Internship and Employment Service
The Internship and Employment Service supports the development and enhancement of practical skills of professional students at Makhinjauri Maritime School LLC in real work environments, facilitates connections with potential employers, and assists graduates in securing employment.
The service is intended for professional students and graduates of Makhinjauri Maritime School.
The Internship and Employment Service actively collaborates with potential employers, helps students complete internships with these employers, introduces students and potential employers to one another for the purposes of consultation, employment facilitation, and familiarization with labor market demands, collects feedback and recommendations from employers to ensure graduates’ employment and competitiveness, assists students in career planning, provides information about employment opportunities alongside studies, maintains a database of employed students, and systematically tracks graduates’ employment status and career growth. The service also conducts training to develop employment-related skills, including CV preparation, writing motivation letters, test and interview preparation, proper conduct during interviews, and self-presentation.
CV Preparation
Preparing a CV is a highly responsible task. CV stands for Curriculum Vitae, which literally means “course of life.” A CV is a document that presents your professional and academic history and should be concise and well-structured. A well-prepared CV creates the first impression on a potential employer and represents an important step in career development.
A CV should include:
Personal Information: full name, address, phone number (with country and city codes), place and date of birth, and email address.
Education: Start with post-secondary education. Include the institution, faculty, specialty, and graduation month and year. Do not abbreviate the name of the university, college, or institution. Include honors, awards, internships, and academic degrees if applicable. The information about your academic and professional education should be detailed.
Work Experience: Include the full name of the organization, duration of employment, your role, department, responsibilities, and achievements. Emphasize competencies and experience relevant to the vacancy.
Additional Sections: languages, training, computer skills, driving license, special skills, and recommendations (if requested). Recommendations should include the full name, position, workplace, and contact information of at least two referees, preferably supervisors.
CV Format: DOC.
Interview Preparation
The interview is the most critical stage for a job seeker. As the saying goes, “You cannot make a first impression twice.” Present yourself as the specialist the employer is seeking.
For a successful interview, prepare by ensuring you know:
-
How to conduct the initial phone call with the employer. Confirm the company’s name, the contact person, interview time, and location. First impressions on the phone are important, even if speaking with a secretary.
-
Information about the organization, including its activities, products or services, history, and development. This will help demonstrate your attentiveness and competence.
-
Prepare answers to potential questions. Do not simply repeat the CV. Highlight additional knowledge and skills gained from previous work. Present yourself as a professional and explain why you are the right candidate. Be honest about your weaknesses and explain how you are working to improve them.
-
Prepare documents supporting your skills, experience, and achievements.
-
Maintain a professional appearance and punctuality. Arrive early if possible. Turn off your mobile phone before entering the interview. Focus on your motivation for joining the organization and connect your experience to the position. Clarify the salary and start date if offered. Conclude the interview politely. Confidence during the interview builds trust and positive impression.

Finding Desired Employment
In a competitive labor market, securing a job can be challenging. Recommendations for job seekers include: objectively assessing strengths and weaknesses, defining the type of work desired, using all available job search methods, researching the organization, understanding job requirements, preparing a correct CV, and preparing thoroughly for interviews. Avoid criticizing former colleagues, overestimating yourself, or stopping job search after a refusal.
Motivation Letter
A motivation letter should capture the employer’s attention and demonstrate your suitability for the vacancy. While a CV provides general information, a motivation letter explains why you are qualified for the position, highlighting your skills and experience. It should include: contact information, date, company name, employer name, greeting, main text, and conclusion. The first paragraph introduces your purpose and interest in the position, the second explains why you are a suitable candidate, and the final paragraph summarizes your qualifications. End with “Sincerely,” followed by your name and signature.
